THREE ACCUSED OF DEFRAUDING BOJANALA MUNICIPALITY OF MORE THAN R1.3 MILLION GRANTED BAIL
RUSTENBURG, 22 September 2026 — Three people accused of defrauding the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality of more than R1.3 million were granted bail of R1,000 each in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Vincent Mkhwanazi, 38, Sibusiso Kunene, 44, and Thembeka Zukula, 44, face charges of fraud, money laundering and theft.
According to the Hawks, a municipal audit uncovered transfers from the municipality’s bank account that allegedly lacked authorisation and supporting documents. The municipality’s reported loss exceeds R1.3 million.
The matter was referred to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation unit. The three accused were arrested on Sunday, 20 September.
The case was postponed to 30 November 2026 to allow for the arrest of additional accused, the Hawks said.
