TS Galaxy goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi has reacted to receiving his first Bafana Bafana call-up ahead of the two friendly matches against Botswana and Sierra Leone.

Buthelezi has been fantastic for Galaxy between the sticks this season, keeping five clean sheets in the first seven games that have been played so far.

The 24-year-old thanked his coaches and teammates for this call-up after Hugo Broos included him in his 23-man squad ahead of the upcoming international break.

“I’m so happy to be representing South Africa in the FIFA break we going to,” Buthelezi told Galaxy’s media team.

“I would love to say thank you to the coaches and teammates for pushing me in each and every time whenever I play.
I also would love to say thank you to the chairman for giving me the opportunity.

“I would say I was expecting it, but it’s something that I told myself if it doesn’t happen I mustn’t stress myself about it. But according to my performance I was happy about it, so I thought if I keep on working hard and doing good, everything nice will follow me and everything will happen when the time is right.

“I think this will motivate me, since I started playing so many positive things have been happening and there are very few negative things. Also I think this will give me more confidence going to the other games.”

Credit must also go to coach Sean Ramovich, who placed his faith in Buthelezi over his Bosnian compatriot Vasilije Kolak since taking over the Rockets.

Overall, the towering 24-year-old has since helped them keep 13 clean sheets in 20 games played since the turn of the year.
