Pirates are closing in on Sundowns
Defending champions Orlando Pirates comfortably disposed of Durban City 2-0 on Thursday evening with goals from Lebone Seema and the returning Tshepang Moremi. Those strikes were assisted by Kabelo Kgositsile and Simphiwe Masilela respectively. Pirates are now four points adrift of leaders Sundowns, but crucially they have two games in hand and remain unbeaten after half a dozen games. Next up for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s charges is a trip to rock-bottom Marumo Gallants on Sunday, 20 September. Kickoff is at 15:00.

Ex-Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng is thriving in Belgium
Meanwhile, scintillating form in the 2025-26 campaign earned Rele Mofokeng a move to Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise. He followed Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi out of the club, although Nkota has returned on loan after an underwhelming stint in Saudi Arabia. Mofokeng scored 10 goals and assisted eight times in 27 league outings last term. For Union SG, he scored the clinching penalty in a shootout win over Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup final in July. Mofokeng scored his first Europa League goal for his new club on Thursday in a comfortable 3-0 win over Viktoria Plzen. He’s also scored three times in five league outings. Union SG have won five matches on the bounce across all competitions.
