Police seized drugs and counterfeit goods during an integrated crime prevention operation in the Cape Town CBD on Friday morning.
According to the South African Police Service, officers stopped at the Cape Town railway station deck on 18 September 2026 as part of the operation.
Police also inspected container shops on the deck to verify whether traders had the required permits.
One man arrested
SAPS said one adult man was arrested for possession of drugs during the operation.
He was expected to be detained at Cape Town Central SAPS before appearing in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police did not disclose the quantity or estimated value of the drugs or counterfeit goods seized in the CBD operation.
Police target drugs across Cape Town
The operation comes amid several recent SAPS crime-prevention actions across Cape Town.
On 16 September, Western Cape SAPS said Operation Lockdown III and the Anti-Gang Unit arrested three suspects in Goodwood, Bellville and Langa after officers found more than 400 mandrax tablets as well as tik.
In another operation, SAPS said officers recovered tik, cocaine, ecstasy and mandrax during searches in Parow and Langa. Suspects were arrested on drug-related charges.
Wider crime-prevention drive
Police have also continued targeting illegal firearms, drugs and other offences across the Western Cape.
In a separate SAPS operation announced on 18 September, officers arrested several suspects for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition during crime-prevention initiatives in Mfuleni and Hanover Park.
SAPS says these operations form part of ongoing efforts to remove illegal firearms and drugs from communities and disrupt criminal activity across the province.
