Sixth Extension Granted To The Ad Hoc Committee Probing Mkhwanazi Allegations
National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has granted the Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of corruption, political interference and criminal infiltration in the criminal justice system another extension to complete its work.
The committee has until 30 October 2026 to finalise and table its report in the National Assembly. Its previous deadline was 11 September.
This is the sixth extension granted to the committee since it was established in July 2025 following allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane requested the extension, citing the volume of work still required to finalise the draft report after the committee concluded its public hearings.
Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo confirmed that Didiza had agreed to the request, allowing the committee additional time to complete its report.
The repeated extensions have drawn criticism from civil society groups, with concerns raised about delays in Parliament’s response to the serious allegations under investigation.
The committee’s original deadline was set for October 2025, meaning the latest extension would push the reporting deadline a year beyond the initial target.
