Chippa United administrator-turned-assistant mentor Morgan Mammilla says he is not yet ready to take up a coaching role at professional level amid discussions about his qualifications as a tactician.

This comes after coach Daine Klate was fired, seven games into his first season as a coach in South Africa’s toplight.

Gwambi Siyabulela took over the reins interim head coach, assisted by Mammila.

Mammila, who has worked as a general manager and CEO at various clubs, including Baroka, recently returned to Chippa.

And he has been part of the technical team, featuring on the Chippa bench more frequently.

He was on the bench as an assistant coach when the Chilli Boys won 2-1 win against AmaZulu on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the league.

However, Chippa’s win was overshadowed by the talks around Mammila’s coaching badges.

He did state that he is not planning to coach at professional level anytime soon.

NOT YET READY, HE SAYS

Addressing the media in Durban, Mammila gave a brief background of his coaching career, something he feels many don’t know about.

From leading teams to championships at the amateur level to scouting talent with his good eyes. He says it a God-given gift.

“To be honest and I have been in football for some time, collaborated with different experienced coaches,” said Mammila.

“I was learning, asking them questions and they explain. Football is about passion and learning.

“No, I’m not ready yet to coach a professional team. I’ve been asked to come and assist. The coach might come on Monday or Tuesday and I will support him.

“I have just done my SAFA D License and after six months I will do the SAFA C License, so yes I will go back to studying.

“Negativity is there, if you are doing good, there is always talks. I have won cups as a coach from the Castle League, ABC Motsepe League. It is just God given talent,” he declared.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Mammila. sabotaged Klate at Chippa to be fired after their loss to Sundowns.

“How can I sabotage Klate, when I was not there, when he got hired and I have been at Chippa for a week? I did not fire anyone, he knows that,” he said.
