South African television viewers will soon have to say goodbye to one of e.tv’s popular drama series, Isitha: The Enemy, after the broadcaster confirmed the telenovela will end in April 2027.
e.tv announced yesterday, 7 September 2026, that Isitha: The Enemy will broadcast its final episode on 23 April 2027, bringing the series’ more than three-year run to a close.

The announcement does not mean the show is disappearing from screens immediately, as viewers can continue watching the drama on e.tv at 20:30, with the remaining episodes leading towards the final episode next year.
Why is Isitha: The Enemy ending?
According to e.tv, the decision forms part of the channel’s move towards a new wave of storytelling and drama productions.
The broadcaster described Isitha: The Enemy as the only remaining legacy drama from its previous generation of programming. Its conclusion therefore represents a significant change in e.tv’s approach to its local drama offering.
e.tv Group Head of Content Development & Strategy Helga Palmer said the series had played an important role in the broadcaster’s storytelling journey and praised its contribution to South African television.
The channel said it is now looking ahead to new characters, fresh perspectives and different stories as it evolves its drama lineup.
e.tv originally announced the show as the successor to The Black Door in May 2023, describing it as a family-oriented telenovela centred on family feuds, drama and intrigue.
Since its launch, the show has developed its own identity and become an established part of e.tv’s primetime schedule.

Season 4 will be the final chapter
The cancellation comes after the launch of the show’s fourth season earlier in the year. In April, e.tv announced Season 4 with new faces and fresh rivalries, demonstrating that the broadcaster was still investing in the production despite its eventual conclusion. The final storyline is expected to remain dramatic.
Actress and musician Kabelo ‘KB’ Motsilanyane joined the cast as Dineo Mtshali, a successful fashion designer from Soweto whose arrival is set to bring further drama to the show.
But for now, Isitha: The Enemy remains part of e.tv’s primetime schedule. But with April 2027 confirmed as the end date, fans know the Sokhulu family’s story is entering its final chapter.
