Football fans who braved the chilly weather in Polokwane and the Eastern Cape were left with little to celebrate as two Betway Premiership matches ended in goalless draws on Saturday evening.
Supporters at the venues had hoped for goals and excitement, but both encounters produced very little in front of goal, with Chippa United and Milford FC sharing the spoils in the Eastern Cape, while Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy played to another 0-0 draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Chippa United went into their home match desperate for their first victory of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
However, the Chilli Boys once again failed to find the back of the net and had to settle for their fourth draw of the season.
The result means Chippa remain 12th on the league table with four points from their opening five matches. They are still searching for their first victory of the campaign, a run that will increasingly concern the club’s technical team and supporters.
Milford, meanwhile, also failed to make the most of their opportunities as both sides struggled to break the deadlock. The KwaZulu-Natal side are on the 5th position with eight points after two victories, two draws and two losses.
Babina Noko held in Polokwane
At the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Sekhukhune United were also unable to give their supporters a much-needed victory as they were held to a goalless draw by TS Galaxy.
The match came just days after Babina Noko parted ways with head coach Cedric Kaze, making the result an important one for the club as they begin life without the coach who started the campaign with them.
Despite enjoying home advantage, Sekhukhune could not find the decisive goal against a Galaxy side that defended resolutely and walked away with a valuable point.
The draw was Sekhukhune’s first of the season.
Babina Noko now have seven points from their opening five matches, having recorded two victories, two defeats and one draw. They remain sixth on the log, but the failure to collect maximum points at home will leave them disappointed.
TS Galaxy, meanwhile, moved to six points and remain ninth on the table after recording one victory and three draws from their four matches.
With both matches ending without a goal, the chilly evening proved a fitting backdrop to a night in which attacking football was largely absent.
For Chippa, the search for a first victory continues, while Sekhukhune will now turn their attention to finding consistency under their new technical leadership as the early stages of the Betway Premiership season begin to take shape.
