Sundowns tie down on-loan starlet on a long-term deal!

Mamelodi Sundowns have announced that they have handed on-loan starlet Thato Sibiya on a long-term contract.

This despite the 20-year-old’s recent loan move to French Ligue 1 club Lille OSC where he will spend the current campaign.

Lille have an option to make Sibiya’s move permanent when the current loan deal expires at the end of the season.

And what this means is that Sundowns will have the leverage to negotiate a better transfer fee for Sibiya if Lille or any other club wish to secure the services of the player for next season.

What’s clear though is that this new long-term has a buy-out clause which Lille or any of Sibiya’s suitors will have to trigger.

“Mamelodi Sundowns are pleased to announce that Thato Sibiya has signed a new long-term contract with the club,” said the club in a statement.

“Mamelodi Sundowns have also reached an agreement with French Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille for Thato to join the club on a season-long loan. We wish Thato all the best for the season ahead and his next challenge in France.”
