Filming for the third season of The Wife has begun already, and fans are excited to find out what is in store for them in the drama series based on the book Naledi his love. There has been news about many actors leaving the show, and people are worried that the storyline will change and may be boring. However, there’s good news to all The Wife fans as many of the actors that were rumoured to be leaving the show are coming back for the third season.
The Wife’s first and second season
The drama series debuted last year in November after a long time of preparation as the show producers wanted to involve Mzansi in the casting. The show’s first season broke Showmax records as it became the most streamed production on the streaming service. Thursday was nicknamed Zulu day for the months the two seasons were streaming.
Which actors are returning for the third season?
Despite news circulating the gossipville, most of the original cast members will return for the third season. This includes Mbalenhle Mavimbela, Zikhona Sodlaka, Mondli Makhoba and Khanyi Mbau, who was rumoured to have left the show. Lindah Majola will also return, taking on his role as Langa, Hlomu’s Twin brother.
Kwenzo Ngcobo and Gaisang Noge will be taking the lead roles this coming season based on their love story as Qhawe and Naledi. However, Bonko Khoza, who plays Mqhele, will not be returning, and Award-winning actor Wiseman Mncube will take over his role.
The third season tells the story of two lovers, Naledi, a Tswana doctor and Kwenzo, the fourth Zulu brother. Naledi was taken when the second season ended, and the Zulu brothers’ illegal businesses were front page news. The Zulu brothers also face an equally strong family in Naledi’s family, and they may have finally met their match.
New additions to The Wife season 3 cast
The third season will go from the Johannesburg taxi business to the North West as we are introduced to Naledi’s family. Naledi’s father, Kgosi, will be played by Sello Motlaung, while Bingo Maffin’s Stoan Seate plays Sefako. Ncebakazi Pingane, who plays Eva on Diepcity, will take on the role of Xoli, who is also after Naledi’s heart. Mo Setumo will also join the cast playing Sambulo’s love interest. Scandal actor Mathew Rantsoma (Nhlamulo) will play Tsietsi, and Terrence Ngwila will take on the role of Detective Baloyi.
The third season of The Wife will premiere on Showmax in November 2022, and it is also the show’s final season. The show’s first season will start showing on Mzansi Magic on the 12th of September for three days a week.
The drama series is nominated for 10 SAFTA Awards this coming weekend. These nominations also include the Best Telenovela nomination, which is up against DiepCity and The River. Bonko Khoza, who is leaving the show, is nominated for Best Actor, while Abdul Khoza is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
