Orlando Pirates have an issued an extended injury update on players such as Thembinkosi Lorch, Evidence Makgopa and four others.
The Buccaneers who are currently sitting at the top of the DStv Premiership will return to league football on Sunday after beating Royal AM in the MTN8 quarter-final last weekend.
They collected their win without five players, and Deon Hotto was added to the treatment table after picking a groin injury, while Lorch is still being assessed, the club confirmed on Thursday.
“Midfielder Deon Hotto is the latest addition to the walking wounded after picking up a groin injury and will be in a race against time ahead of the Club’s next fixture as he is currently being assessed by the Medical Team,” the club said via a statement.
“Meanwhile, Thembinkosi Lorch who sat out the team’s last two outings is also being monitored continuously after picking up a niggle ahead of last week’s league victory against Marumo Gallants.”
However, Kabelo Dlamini and Tapelo Xoki are back in training after missing the Royal AM match.
“Dlamini had to be withdrawn early in the second half during the game against Gallants after suffering from what was later to be discovered as a quad contusion,” the club added.
“This was minutes before Xoki had to be stretchered off, following a head clash just before the full-time whistle. “
Meanwhile, longterm absentees Terrence Dzvukamanja and new signing Evidence Makgopa are nearing full fitness after not having featured this season so far.
“New signing Makgopa’s Pirates debut has been delayed and the player is expected back in mid-September due to an ankle injury, while the Zimbabwean international could be cleared before the Soweto Giants welcome TS Galaxy to Orlando Stadium on 10 September,” the club concluded.
