Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy signs Zimbabwean rookie Daniel Msendami

Ambitious Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy have acquired the services of exciting Zimbabwean winger Daniel Msendami from Bulawayo giants Highlanders on loan until the end of this year.

The 19-year-old had not enjoyed much game time in Zimbabwe giants under the tutelage of the highly rated Portuguese coach Baltemar Brito despite showing lots of potential in his position.

But Jwaneng Galaxy have pledged to give the player a chance to express himself with the view of making the move permanent if he impresses.

“Daniel Msendami has completed a loan move to Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana up to December, with an option for a permanent move.

“We wish Msendami all the best in this new challenge,” Highlanders confirmed via their Facebook page.

Msendami graduated from the Highlanders juniors, popularly known as Bosso90, in 2019 but did not make much impact compared to some of the players who got elevation to the senior team simultaneously with him.

Andrew Mbeba has since established himself as the team’s mainstay in the centre-back role, where he formed a steely partnership with ex-Simba SC defender Peter Muduhwa.

In Botswana, Msendami will reconnect with his former coach Mandla Mpofu who is now in charge of Masitaoka United in the same league.

Mpofu promoted Msendami from the junior ranks and handed him his debut for the Bulawayo-based club.

And Jwaneng Galaxy, coached by South African Morena Ramoreboli, will likely prove to be good development ground for Msendami as they have consistently risen in the Botswana top-flight, having won the title in 2020 following three seasons of playing bridesmaids.

They featured in the latest CAF Champions league edition, their maiden, where they reached the group phase after a respectable showing in the preliminary stages.

Last season, they ended the league campaign in third place, hoping to do better next season.
