Investigative Journalist Devi Sankaree Govender’s academic qualifications impress Mzans

For 29 years, Devi Sankaree Govender has been pursuing one of the most dangerous careers on television, and she is good at it. Recently Devi was part of the panellists at the comedy central roast of Khanyi Mbau, and she gave an outstanding performance. However, her education qualifications were talked about on the show, and now fans wonder how learned she is.

Devi Sankaree Govender was raised by her mother, who did not get a chance to pursue a degree but lived her dreams through her children, whom she sent to school. The Kwazulu Natal-born journalist has always had the zeal to learn and study, so she did not stop at her high school education.

In 1997 Devi graduated with a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of South Africa, but she was already furthering her studies. First, she got her undergraduate degree in Drama and Performance studies which she attained in 1994 when she graduated. She did not stop learning then and pursued a post-graduate diploma in business management from the University of KZN. The highest level of education Devi got is her MBA degree which she attained in 2002 and has since stopped school.

Devi Sankaree’s career as a journalist

Her journalism career also dates back to 1994, when she was still at the University of KwaZulu Natal. she started as a journalist on the radio. Devi got hired by Lotus FM as a talk show host and then a program for music host. While doing all that, she also pursued a teaching career, but she dumped it for a full-time job on radio.

Her television break came in 1996 as a presenter on Eastern Mosaic, which opened many career doors for her. She had her column in the Sunday Times newspaper, which she held for 16 years. Her career rose prominently when she won the British Council creative writing scholarship and interviewed Nelson Mandela the same year.

Devi is famously known for exposing corruption, and she exposed the famous Guptas. She was awarded her show called the Debi show, where she goes on to expose a lot of businesses for fraud and finds herself in very dangerous situations where she usually ends up at the police station for intervention.
