Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy (VFA) have confirmed their squad list including technical team members, ahead of the 2022/23 season.

VFA are in their second season in South Africa’s second tier after purchasing the status of Ubuntu Cape Town.

The club had an impressive debut in the league and were amongst teams vying for a promotion or at least a promotion playoff spot.

But they fell short of being amongst the two clubs that would go on to play against the 15th-placed DStv Premiership club. They finished fifth, with 44 points. They were four points behind Cape Town All Stars, who finished third, and 10 points behind eventual winners Richards Bay.

Richards Bay were the only team promoted from the first division last season following the failure by the University of Pretoria All Stars at the relegation/promotion playoffs against Swallows.

The club today officially unveiled their playing and coaching personnel.

As FARPost previously reported, veteran striker Rhulani Manzini has joined from rivals Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM). Former Polokwane City defender Nicola Motloung has also joined the ambitious club.

The club has also unveiled talented midfielder Wanga ‘Messi’ Khorommbi. Khorommbi was also reportedly in the camp of rivals Black Leopards and travelled with them during their friendly matches against Baroka, MM Platinum and Magesi at Baroka village a fortnight ago.

Goalkeeper Harold Ndlovu, who was recently training with Marumo Gallants, is also a notable addition to the Limpopo-based club. Former coach at TS Sporting Kabelo Sibiya has also been roped in as assistant coach to Micheal Loftman.

VFA will begin their 2022/23 season with an away fracture against fellow Limpopo side Magesi. The match is scheduled to take place at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 3 September at 15:00.
