Hunt – It’s Multi-Million Dollar Players Vs Kids

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt once again pointed out the differences in financial means between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United after his side’s 2-0 defeat.

Two late goals from new Sundowns signings Marcelo Allende and Abubeker Nasir, who both came on as second-half substitutes were enough to send the Brazilians through to the semi-finals of MTN8.

Hunt, who has previously questioned whether Downs’ financial muscle is imbalancing the league, was full of praise for his players but also pointed out that Downs simply have more quality within their squad, with both goal scorers coming off their bench.

“Not a true reflection of the game. I mean, we had the best chances in the game. The ball was going across the six-yard box how many times,” he told SuperSport TV.

“If you score, you can [hurt them]. Then the ball goes through everybody and takes a deflection and they get lucky.

“But as I say, look at our team. We’re bringing on young kids, brilliant MDC player, brilliant,” Hunt said.

“[But] they are bringing on multi-million dollar players [Abubeker Nasir and Marcelo Allende], you know.

“So, these kids did great – I mean they were brilliant. I can’t be more prouder of the players.”

Sundowns will face Matsatsantsa in five days again as both side will be battling each other in the DStv Premiership.

Hunt will again be without Grant Margeman, Ricardo Goss and Thabang Sibanyoni, who are not allowed to face their parent club as part of their loan agreement.
