Regan Collis, 23, has appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court after being arrested in connection with the murders of four people in Reiger Park.

The victims included anti-gang unit constables Thapelo Tlomatsana and Siphiwe Sibeko.

The two officers had been deployed to Reiger Park to help combat gang-related crime.

They were killed while responding to the shooting of friends Jaydin Magerman and Rolene Lessing.

Collis has not been convicted in the latest case and the allegations against him still have to be tested in court.

Police describe accused as gang figure

The Hawks have described Collis as a well-known gang member and alleged gang leader.

He was arrested during a multidisciplinary tracing operation.

Police said the operation also led to the recovery of two R5 rifles belonging to the murdered police officers at the KwaDukathole informal settlement in Germiston.

Authorities also allege that Collis shot and wounded another person on the same day as the four killings.

Several older cases remain pending

According to police information cited by Sowetan, Collis already had several cases pending before the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.

These include two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Some of the matters date back to 2023, while another murder case was allegedly committed in 2026.

Collis was reportedly out on bail in those cases when the latest killings occurred.

Latest case includes robbery charges

In the newest case, Collis faces four counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

He is also charged with two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police have not ruled out adding further charges as the investigation continues.

Collis had reportedly been due in court for one of his older 2023 murder matters before he was arrested over the Reiger Park killings.

The case has placed renewed attention on violent gang-related crime in the area and on how accused people with serious pending cases are managed while out on bail.
