Kaizer Chiefs have officially unveiled Langelihle Phili as their newest signing. Does he walk straight into the side under Fernando Da Cruz?

Chiefs sign Phili, but is he guaranteed a starting berth?

21-year-old Langelihle Phili has put pen to paper on his Kaizer Chiefs contract. The winger joins from Stellies after weeks of speculation around his future. Phili bagged seven goals and an assist in 21 league outings last term. Does he waltz straight into the starting XI?

Amakhosi opened up with a win thanks to some surprise faces

Against Kruger United on matchday 1 of the new season, some surprise names made starts, including Ethan Chislett in the number 10 position and Luke Baartman wide in attack. Chiefs beat the newcomers 3-1.

Potential best Kaizer Chiefs XI

Thabo Moloisane should eventually work his way into the side after arriving from Stellies. After his brace off the bench, Wandile Duba might also earn himself a starting berth in the next match against Golden Arrows in MTN8 action. Mduduzi Shabalala is out with a broken arm, but should return soon enough and eventually get his place back. However, he’ll have to tussle with Phili for that privilege.

Petersen; Monyane, Moloisane, Miguel, Frosler; Maboe, Ndlovu; Duba, Vilakazi, Phili; Silva.

Will we see Phili feature in the MTN8?

Orlando Pirates meet Durban City on Saturday, 8 August at 15:00. Sundowns tackle Polokwane later that day at 18:00. Meanwhile, Chiefs face Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Sunday, 9 August at 18:00.
