Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies produced a stunning display to beat Tsunami Queens 7-0 to reclaim the Hollywoodbets Super League top spot.
This was the only midweek Super League match of the day after Banyana Ba Style missed a couple of games due to the COSAFA zonal qualifiers commitments.
With most of the talk ahead of kick-off focused on Downs’ winning run in the women’s league, it felt even more important that the Tshwane-based outfit made a positive start.
The red-hot Brazilians were not so sparkling but held their nerve to level points with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the title race.
On the whole, it was a dominant display from Jerry Tshabalala’s side who were three up at half-time.
In the second stanza, running riot Sundowns added four more goals to put the last nail in the coffin.
The final whistle blew, and thankfully for Tsunami, there was no further embarrassment.
However, a poor run for the relegation zone threatened Tsunami continued as they were on the receiving end of a hammering at home to the defending champions.
The result put Masandawana top of the log standings with 39 points, equal on point with arch-rivals but Sundowns has a better goal difference.
