Ouaddou breaks silence on ‘Haaland’ signing Pedersen
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has finally revealed when supporters can expect exciting new signing Sebastian Pedersen to arrive in South Africa.
The Buccaneers sent shockwaves through South African football when they announced the signing of the Norwegian striker last weekend. Pedersen’s impressive goal-scoring record and highlight videos immediately won over Pirates supporters, with many even comparing him to Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland.
However, the striker was not part of the squad that defeated Milford FC 2-0 in Pirates’ opening Betway Premiership match on Saturday.
Speaking after the victory, Ouaddou assured fans that Pedersen’s arrival is only a matter of time. “Sebastian will definitely join us,” said Ouaddou. “He is the type of player who can add quality to the strikers we already have.”
The Pirates coach said Pedersen will have to compete with Evidence Makgopa, Boitumelo Radiopane, Yanela Mbuthuma, and Sifiso Luthuli for a place in the team. “We already have Radiopane, Mbuthuma, Makgopa, and Luthuli. He will become part of that competition.”
Ouaddou added that the Norwegian forward is eager to begin his Pirates journey. “I think he is looking forward to coming to South Africa to join a big club. We are expecting him and I hope to have him with the group very soon.”
The Pirates mentor admitted he understands why supporters are becoming impatient. “The fans are waiting for him, and I know they are becoming impatient. Hopefully, he will be with us soon,” said Ouaddou.
