THOHOYANDOU – The University of Venda Stadium will come alive with boxing action on Friday evening as some of South Africa’s top fighters step into the ring for the highly anticipated World Kings Boxing tournament.

The event, scheduled for 31 July from 18:00, is being staged as part of a campaign to raise awareness against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), combining top-class boxing with an important social cause.

A total of 10 bouts are expected to entertain boxing fans from across Limpopo and neighbouring provinces, with the headline attraction featuring WBF Intercontinental bantamweight champion Akani Sambu taking on Sabelo Cebekhulu in a title fight expected to cap off an exciting evening.

The tournament will also showcase a number of rising professional boxers eager to make a name for themselves on one of the province’s biggest boxing stages. Organisers believe the event will provide a platform for local talent while bringing quality professional boxing to the Vhembe District.

Besides the action inside the ring, the tournament aims to send a strong message against gender-based violence. Activities linked to the event included a GBV awareness walk held ahead of fight night, highlighting the organisers’ commitment to using sport to drive positive social change.

Fans are expected to travel from across Limpopo to witness the event, with tickets available in general admission, VIP and hospitality packages.

With championship honours on the line and several exciting undercard contests scheduled, boxing supporters can expect an entertaining night of punches, power and passion when the first bell rings at the University of Venda Stadium.
