Mhango – Why I’m Thriving At AmaZulu

Red-hot Gabadinho Mhango has explained why he is thriving at AmaZulu after struggling to make the team at Orlando Pirates last season.

The 29-year-old has started the 2022/23 campaign like a house on fire, shooting Usuthu to climb to the top of the log with 10 points from four matches.

Mhango has netted in three successive games for AmaZulu, with his goals helping Brandon Truter’s side to beat SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Swallows FC.

He credits his return to form after only featuring in 10 games for Pirates last season to the love he’s received since moving to Durban.

“The important thing in life is to be happy and to enjoy football,” he told Daily Sun.

“I’m enjoying football, that’s why I’m doing well. There’s more love here and that’s why it has been easy to adapt to the club’s style.

“Scoring three goals is not something that is new, it has been there. I just needed another chance and opportunity. But the team for me comes first.”

AmaZulu are currently sitting at the top of the log, being the only team to have collected three wins from their first four games and Mhango believes they can add onto their fine start when hosting Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

“We just want to keep the same form, the way we’ve started,” he added.

“Every game at home we need to make sure that home ground advantage counts.”
