The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially confirmed the full calendar for the 2026/27 domestic football season, setting the stage for another exciting campaign across all major competitions.
The announcement was made following the conclusion of the 2025/26 PSL Awards on Monday evening, with the league also releasing the highly anticipated Betway Premiership fixtures.
The new Betway Premiership season will officially kick off this weekend, on 1 and 2 August 2026, before concluding on Saturday, 22 May 2027.
Defending league champions Orlando Pirates will begin their title defence at home against newly promoted Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, 1 August, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
Six more league fixtures will be played during the opening weekend. The PSL has also confirmed that several clubs will temporarily host home matches at alternative venues due to venue-related challenges in certain parts of the country.
The domestic cup competitions will once again provide plenty of excitement throughout the season. The MTN8 will begin on 8 August 2026, with the final set for 10 October 2026. The Motsepe Foundation Championship season will kick off on 21 August 2026.
The Carling Knockout tournament will run from 24 October to 9 December 2026, while South Africa’s prestigious Nedbank Cup will start on 27 January 2027 and conclude with the final on 1 May 2027.
The campaign will officially end with the Promotion Play-offs, scheduled to take place between 23 May and 9 June 2027, when promotion and relegation places will be decided.
The fixture list has already highlighted several blockbuster encounters that supporters can look forward to throughout the campaign.
The first Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will be played on 31 October 2026, with the return fixture scheduled for 13 March 2027.
Limpopo football fans will witness the Limpopo Derby between Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United on 15 August 2026, before the reverse fixture on 6 March 2027.
Another eagerly awaited clash will see Kaizer Chiefs host Mamelodi Sundowns on 15 August 2026, while the return fixture is scheduled for 6 February 2027.
The defending champions, Orlando Pirates, will also renew their rivalry with Mamelodi Sundowns on 9 January 2027, before the reverse fixture on 24 April 2027.
Regional rivalries will also feature prominently, including the eThekwini Derby between Golden Arrows and AmaZulu FC on 31 October 2026 and 27 February 2027, the uMhlathuze Derby between Milford FC and Richards Bay FC on 13 September 2026 and 24 April 2027, the Mpumalanga Derby featuring Kruger United and TS Galaxy FC on 13 September 2026 and 17 April 2027, and the Free State Derby between Siwelele FC and Marumo Gallants on 30 October 2026 and 9 May 2027.
With the fixtures now confirmed, clubs across the country can shift their focus to preparations as another fiercely contested season promises thrilling rivalries, title battles, cup drama and an intense fight for survival in South African football.
