Motaung Update On Chiefs Women’s Team
Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung has given an update about the club launching a women’s team.
Motaung was speaking to Lorenz Köhler in the latest edition of iDiski Times.
She explained that club are looking at starting their women’s team in the coming months, and they hope to have the team setup before the new season.
“I certainly think it can be something as big,” Motaung told iDiski Times.
“In fact, WAFCON had just been exposed to the women’s game and has further amplified it, you know. I’m very excited about the possibilities of what can happen. A lot of work has been done behind the scenes, by the way, a lot of strategising, planning around it and I’m looking forward to us launching a team.
Motaung also went into further details about whether they would be starting from scratch, or buying an existing franchise.
“There’s a scenario planning around that because there are various implications of each,” she continued.
“So we’re looking at all the scenarios and will finalise it real soon.
“We’d like to be in the league next season because the women’s season has started.
“So it gives us the time to plan and make sure our resources, facilities and all things needed (are there) to give the women a fair chance to do their best.”
