Sunday evening saw Orlando Pirates announce Sebastian Pedersen as the club’s new number nine.
The left-footed striker arrives after scoring 51 goals in his last 117 matches for Sogndal and Moss in Norway.
ORLANDO PIRATES SIGN SEBASTIAN PEDERSEN
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Sebastian Pedersen from Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball,” the Buccaneers announced.
“The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the Club holding an option to extend for a further season.”
In the five pre-season friendlies in Spain, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou clearly indicated his best starting 11 in the post-Relebohile Mofokeng era.

WHO IS HE?
Pedersen is known as a clinical ‘one-touch’ finisher who thrives inside the penalty area rather than a traditional target man. The Norwegian striker has built a reputation for his intelligent movement and eye for goal, averaging a goal every 161 minutes throughout his senior career.
Born in Hamar, Norway, on 8 June 1999, Pedersen came through the youth ranks at HamKam before joining Stabæk at the age of 16. He balanced his football development with his studies at the Norwegian College of Elite Sport and made his Eliteserien debut as a 17-year-old against FK Haugesund in August 2016. Just three appearances later, he scored his first senior goal against Lillestrøm.
The 27-year-old went on to represent Strømsgodset, Strømmen and Notodden, gaining valuable experience before finding his goalscoring touch with Moss FK and later Sogndal.
Between 2021 and 2026, Pedersen scored 51 goals in 117 appearances for Moss FK and Sogndal, while also contributing eight assists. He was particularly prolific during the 2026 campaign, netting eight goals in 14 Norwegian First Division matches before earning a move to Orlando Pirates.
On the international stage, Pedersen represented Norway at every youth level from Under-15 through to Under-21, underlining his pedigree before making the switch to the Betway Premiership.
Meanwhile, Pedersen has become Orlando Pirates’ eighth singing of the current transfer window.
The Soweto giants kick off their title defence this Saturday, 1 August. They host newcomers Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena at 15:00.
