Sekhukhune United strengthen squad as they eye successful 2026/27 Campaign

Sekhukhune United have stepped up their preparations for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season with an impressive recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the squad for what promises to be another demanding domestic and continental campaign.

The Limpopo-based outfit has been one of the busiest clubs during the transfer window, adding quality and depth across the pitch as they seek to improve on last season’s performances and challenge for honours.

The club has bolstered its defence with the permanent signings of former Orlando Pirates duo Gomolemo Khoto and Siyabonga Ndlozi, while also bringing in Athenkosi Mcaba and Congolese defender Samba O’Neil to provide additional options at the back.

In midfield and attack, Sekhukhune have further strengthened the squad with the arrivals of Thato Khiba and Lesiba Nku from Stellenbosch FC. The club has also welcomed back striker Chibuike “Lion” Ohizu, who is expected to add firepower to Babina Noko’s attacking department.

Another boost for the team is the return of defender Tshepho Mashiloane, who has rejoined the club on loan from Orlando Pirates for another season after impressing during his previous spell.

However, Sekhukhune have also suffered a significant departure after goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner completed a move to Kaizer Chiefs following a standout campaign that earned him recognition in the Bafana Bafana setup.

With the new arrivals settling into pre-season training, the technical team is focused on building a competitive squad capable of challenging for a top finish in the Betway Premiership while also making a strong impression in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Supporters will be hoping the blend of experienced recruits and returning players will help Babina Noko compete consistently against the country’s traditional giants and bring silverware to Limpopo.

As the countdown to the new season continues, optimism is growing around Sekhukhune United that the investments made during the transfer window will translate into success on the field.
