Family Feud Over Burial Site Of Late Actor Seputla Sebogodi
The funeral service of actor Seputla Sebogodi will be held at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane on Saturday morning.
The 63-year-old actor passed away on Wednesday, due to complications related to diabetes.
Although he was born in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, Sebogodi hails from Ga-Mothapo, east of Polokwane.
According to reports, Sebogodi’s family intends to bury the prominent actor at his ancestral home in Ga-Mothapo, but there is an obstacle – his wife.Sebogodi’s wife, Machuene Rosina Semenya, reportedly wants her husband of six months to be buried at Silicon Cemetery in Polokwane instead of Ga-Mothapo.
Reports further reveal that the family argues Semenya has only been married into the family for a few months since their wedding in February 2026.
Therefore, they claim she has no right to decide the burial location, especially since she has never visited the actor’s ancestral home.
The deceased’s older sister, Mary (67), wept bitterly upon hearing the news that Semenya intends to bury the prominent actor at Silicon Cemetery, stating that she wants to lay him to rest far from home where his ancestors rest.
As this dispute continues, a memorial service for the actor will be held at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria on 23 July.
Another memorial will take place at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane on Friday, followed by the funeral at the same venue on Saturday.
