Sibisi Happy To Already Have Pirates’ Goal

Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi was happy to get his first goal in the colours of the Buccaneers so early on in his time at the club.

Sibisi is expected to play a role as Pirates take on Royal AM in Durban this evening.

The 26-year-old who completed a move from Golden Arrows during the offseason has impressed so far in his time as at Pirates, following up his Man of the Match performance on debut against their arch rivals Swallows, with a goal in his second game. He produced a stellar performance against Stellies, scoring an important goal from a corner kick delivered by Thembinkosi Lorch.

And although Pirates lost their third encounter, 1-0 against Chippa United, Sibisi was not on the pitch when Pirates conceded, having been substituted 20 minutes earlier.

Last week Sibisi spoke about getting his first Pirates goal.

“It was a great feeling,” Sibisi told the Orlando Pirates website.

“You know at Arrows it took me a while to get my first goal, so it felt really good to actually help the team. Plus it’s also good to see the hard work paying off. We actually put a lot of work behind our set-pieces at training. It’s always good when it shows on the field.”

The Buccaneer touched on Sunday’s clash against suffering Chippa United as they will aim to get maximum points to maintain their unbeaten start of the season. Pirates played two games, winning one and playing a draw.

“It’s really important that we get three points on Sunday,” he added.

“We’re playing at home at Orlando Stadium and if we add a win to the point we got away from home, we’ll be able to find ourselves in a good position.”
