Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams’ death left South Africans and football fans across the world in mourning after he passed away on Saturday, 11 July, soon after returning from the FIFA World Cup.
Adams was also a key member of the Mamelodi Sundowns squad.
Details surrounding his death has not yet been made public, although there has been some speculation that this could have been suicide.

Speaking on behalf of the Adams family, mentor Brendine Johnson described the devastating impact of the midfielder’s passing.
“At this moment, things are still raw. The family wouldn’t want to be contacted right now; they wouldn’t be able to answer anyone,” Johnson said.
“This passing has ripped everybody apart. Returning from the World Cup just now, and then getting such news… I had a close conversation with him on Thursday. The guy was really positive about returning after the World Cup and going forward.”
Before his death, Jayden was in a long-term relationship with Aqueelah Adendorf.
The pair have a five-year-old daughter together.
Following Jayden’s death, Aqueelah penned a touching tribute to him. She also showed him love and support ahead of his FIFA World Cup journey.
“There are no words to describe the pain I’m feeling. 💔.Rest in peace, my love. Thank you for every memory, every laugh, every hug, and every moment we shared. You were not only the love of my life but also my greatest supporter and my best friend,” she wrote.
“A part of my heart left with you, and I will carry your love with me forever. Until we meet again, I’ll miss you every single day. Rest easy, my angel. I love you always and forever. 🕊️❤️,” she continued.
