South African actor and television personality Khaya Dladla has reflected on his journey since leaving the popular soap opera Uzalo, saying the transition has been one of growth, self-discovery and embracing new opportunities.

Khaya, who is best known for his fan-favourite role as GC on Uzalo, became one of the show’s most recognisable faces during his time on the SABC 1 drama. His departure marked the end of a significant chapter in his acting career. Khaya says it also opened the door to new experiences.

Speaking to Daily Sun about life after the long-running series, Dladla shared that leaving a successful production was not without its challenges. However, he has used the opportunity to diversify his career by pursuing television presenting, brand partnerships, entrepreneurship and other creative projects.

The actor continued to say he has learned the importance of reinventing himself in an industry that is constantly evolving. Rather than viewing his departure from Uzalo as a setback, he saw it as a chance to explore different avenues and showcase his versatility beyond acting.

Looking ahead of Uzalo

Dladla has remained a familiar face in the entertainment industry through various television appearances, hosting engagements, and public events.

Through his journey, he continues to connect with audiences through social media, where he shares updates about his personal life, career milestones, and advocacy for self-confidence and authenticity.

In the Daily Sun interview, Khaya said, “storytelling has always been his passion, as acting allows him to tell stories through characters, while his other passion, DJing, lets him tell stories through Music.”

The television personality also acknowledged the unwavering support he continues to receive from fans, many of whom still associate him with his iconic portrayal of GC.

Looking ahead, Dladla said he is focused on building a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry while remaining open to new acting roles that challenge him creatively.

As he continues to evolve professionally, Khaya Dladla’s journey serves as a reminder that life after a defining television role can be the beginning of an exciting new chapter rather than the end of a successful career.
