ZULU KING MISUZULU DEEPLY REGRETS HIS UTTERANCES AND ASK FOR SINCERE EXPRESSION OF REMORSE ON HIS RANTS TO QUEEN NOMZAMO MYENI
The Office of His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has finally responded on the matter involving the circulation of private video recordings depicting him in personal interactions with Queen Nomzamo Myeni.
The recordings were circulated publicly without the knowledge or consent of Misuzulu and relate to conversations that occurred within a private family setting.
According to the Royal House Acting Spokesperson, Mpikayise Buthelezi said it is important to clarify that the recordings are historical in nature and do not represent the present circumstances within the Royal Household.
The circulation took place on Thursday night while Misuzulu and Myeni were jointly undertaking official duties at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace, where they received a delegation from Build One South Africa (BOSA), led by Mr Mmusi Maimane.
“The continued participation of His Majesty and Her Majesty in official engagements together reflects their shared commitment to the institution of the Zulu Monarchy and to the service of the nation. It also demonstrates that the difficult circumstances portrayed in the recordings belong to a period that has since been overtaken by reconciliation, reflection and the continued fulfilment of their responsibilities.
“Notwithstanding the private and historical nature of the recordings, His Majesty acknowledges that certain expressions made during an emotionally charged moment fell short of the dignity, restraint and decorum that the nation rightfully expects from its Monarch. His Majesty recognises that the words spoken have caused pain, disappointment, embarrassment and disquiet among members of the Royal Family, amakhosi, the Royal Household, religious leaders and the broader Zulu Nation,” said Buthelezi.
Buthelezi who was recently appointed after Prince Thulani Zulu was axed said Misuzulu deeply regrets the hurt caused by his utterances and humbly asks those who were affected to receive his sincere expression of remorse.
