Bongani Zungu rejoins Sundowns | FARPost

Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu has rejoined his former club Mamelodi Sundowns. He was a free agent after his contract with French Ligue 1 outfit Amiens SC came to an end and the club opted not to extend his contract.

As previously reported by FARPost a few days ago, they 29-year-old was spotted at Chloorkop with indications that he will rejoin the team ahead of the new season.

He returns to the club six years later after departing for Europe ahead of 2016/17 season. During his time with Masandawana he scored nine goals in over 100 appearances in all competitions.

The reigning DStv Premiership champions presented Zungu in front of the Yellow Nation before their match against Kaizer Chiefs before posting on Twitter as well.

However, his contract details were not revealed. With Masandawana he managed to help the team clinch two league titles, Nedbank Cup, CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup.

“I came here as a young boy, when I was 21 years old. It’s a club that changed my life. It feels more like coming back home,” he said on the video.

The former Rangers FC midfielder of the club’s fourth signing in the transfer window. He joins newcomers Ronwen Williams, Sipho Mbule and Ethopian striker Abubeker Nassir at the Tshwane based outfit.

Zungu is expected to feature for Sundowns in their next match against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, August 20th.
