Leopards coach Masutha ready for switch

Black Leopards coach Joel Masutha says he is ready for a switch of their home base from Thohoyandou Stadium to Malamulele Stadium.

He insists it will have no effect to his charges ahead of 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship which kicks off on the first weekend of September.

According to him, all football pitches are just the same, its just the difference in name and location. For a long time, Lidoda Duvha have played all their home matches at Thohoyandou.

They have good and bad memories at the venue having gained promotion and relegation there. “I think the only difference is the name and location. It’s not too far away from Thohoyandou, so our supporters will manage to come and support us there,” Masutha told FARPost.

“If you want to be champions, you must be able to win in each and every pitch that you play on. There is no much difference in terms of the conditions and in terms of the weather we still in same area.”

Masutha stated that getting maximum points home and away is key if one wants to succeed in the promotional league.

“It’s not only about the home games, its about 15 home and 15 away. You can do well at home, but if you don’t do well away from home still you not going to win the league.”

“We just have to be prepared to play home and away. The aim for each game is to get maximum points. Sometimes its possible, sometimes that’s its impossible. Winning should be the name of the game,” he added.

The former TTM mentor will be hoping for continuity from his troops. Last season the club finished on a high note, ninth on the log table. Masutha won seven matches and drew one in their last eight league matches.

Leopards kick start their 2022/23 campaign on September 3rd against Hungry Lions at their new home.
