Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena says he is not worried about Peter Shalulile’s lack of goals in the new season.
According to him, its still early days as only two matches have been played. He is confident the 2021/22 top scorer and Player of the Season will turn the corner and start banging in goals like he usually does.
The Namibian red hot striker fired blanks for Masandawana against Cape Town City and TS Galaxy respectively. This act started raising eyebrows on whether his form has dropped.
“Its only two matches into the season, we all know Peter [Shalulile] scores goals. Before we start writing columns and articles, I think you guys know that he’s going to score,” Mokwena told the media.
“Before we criticize him, let’s just wait a little bit and give him a little bit of time to get the engine going. It’s a slow start, but he will get goals and that I can guarantee you. He will get goals.”
The 35-year-old further revealed that his side have not gelled well, stating that they will need a couple of games to find their rhythm.
“When we started last season we said we need four to five games to get into the rhythm, we will need four to five games again to get into our rhythm. As soon as we are in that space, we catch on.”
“We know we are one of the best if not the best sides in the league. We always have that responsibility to show personality on the pitch,” Mokwena added.
The reigning DStv Premiership champions will be aiming to get back to winning ways after they were stunned 1-0 by TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening. They face Arthur Zwane’s Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon who are in high spirits after outclassing Maritzburg United 3-0 on Tuesday.
