It ended goalless between Maritzburg United and Swallows in their DStv Premiership fixture on Friday night at Harry Gwala Stadium.

It was a bright start from the home team, with Bongani Sam causing problems down the left, and on three first-half occasions he sent in dangerous crosses, but Swallows were able to clear.

Karim Kimvuidi went wide in the 28th minute, while Lelethu Skelem did well to turn and shoot at goal two minutes later, but Thakasani Mbanjwa was on hand to stop the attempt.

It was the visitors who ended the half stronger, Lindokuhle Mtshali was off target in the 35th minute, while Siboniso Mtshali headed over five minutes later.

Siboniso Mtshali went close again in the 44th minute, but this time King Ndlovu saved his header, and it remained goalless at the break.

Brian Hlongwa’s header was off target in the 54th minute, while Skelem had an excellent chance in the 69th minute, but with an empty net gaping, he shot over the goal.

Lebohang Lesako’s attempt in the 80th minute was on target, but straight at Ndlovu, while Thabo Moloisane’s header at the other end seven minutes later went wide of goal.

There were late chances at both ends in the dying minutes, but neither team were able to find the back of the net, and it ended goalless.
