Rain has launched the LoopPhone with new Unlimited Mobile plans that start at R595 per month, giving customers unlimited data in selected areas.
The Rain LoopPhone unlimited data plans allow users to choose unlimited access in a city, province or across South Africa. The month-to-month offer also includes unlimited local calls and SMS on Rain’s national 4G and 5G network.
Rain says its new Unlimited Mobile offer gives customers a “free-to-use” LoopPhone with every plan. However, the device must be returned if a customer cancels, or Rain may lock it, according to the company’s official product page.
The entry-level Unlimited City plan costs R595 per month. It includes unlimited data in a selected city, unlimited local calls and SMS countrywide, and 2GB of out-of-city data.
The Unlimited Province plan costs R695 per month and offers unlimited data within a selected province. Rain’s official website lists the Unlimited Countrywide plan at R995 per month, with unlimited data across South Africa.
Customers who want to own the LoopPhone can buy it for R7,999 once-off. Rain says those customers will receive R150 off their unlimited plan every month.
New Plans Focus on Where Users Need Data Most
Rain CEO Conrad Leigh said the plans reflect how many South Africans use mobile data in daily life.
“Most South Africans don’t need unlimited data across the entire country every day. They need it where they live, work and connect,” Leigh said, according to MyBroadband.
Rain says the LoopPhone connects to its national 4G and 5G network. It also uses smartswitching technology, which keeps customers on their selected unlimited plan and switches to per-gig billing when they leave their unlimited area.
For City and Province customers, Rain includes 2GB for use outside the selected zone. Additional out-of-zone data costs R20 per GB, while mobile hotspot data is also charged at R20 per GB.
RainOne Unlimited Also Gets an Upgrade
Rain has also introduced RainOne Unlimited, which combines Unlimited 5G home Wi-Fi with Unlimited Mobile in one plan.
The package starts at R995 per month and includes Rain’s the101 5G smart router and the LoopPhone as free-to-use devices. Rain says the plan includes unlimited 5G home Wi-Fi, unlimited mobile data, calls and SMS, with no fixed contract.
The LoopPhone features a 6.83-inch display, a 7,000mAh silicon-anode battery and a 200MP main camera system, according to Rain’s official product page. It also supports NFC, eSIM and 4G and 5G connectivity.

Rain said the LoopPhone was developed with LoopDL, its product and design partner. MyBroadband reported that the device and Unlimited Mobile plans became available from Rain on 8 July 2026.
