Anthony Mackie recently opened up about his friendship with the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner, describing the actor as “such a beautiful human being.”
Mackie, known for his role in Captain America: Brave New World, reflected on the value of the time they shared. The actor called it “the most important thing.”

Warner, famously known for his role on The Cosby Show, tragically passed away on 20 July in an accidental drowning. He was on a family holiday in Costa Rica. He was 54 years old, according to People.
Mackie expressed pride in their friendship, saying, “I’m proud to say Malcolm-Jamal Warner was a friend of mine. He’s somebody that I knew and spent time with.”
He emphasised how much he benefited from their interactions. “Every time I was around him, I was able to take full advantage of those conversations and that time,” Mackie said.

The veteran actor also reflected on his relationship with another late icon, Andre Braugher, who died in December 2023 at the age of 61 from lung cancer.
Braugher, best known for his role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, was a mentor to Mackie during his early years in New York’s theatre scene.
Anthony Mackie recalled, “To have those lessons and those moments communicated by such an icon in the business.
I always tell people to take full advantage of those moments with mentors and truly be yourself.”
KEEPING THE MEMORIES
Stephanie Beatriz, Anthony Mackie’s co-star in the Peacock series Twisted Metal, also shared her thoughts on loss and memory.
“Unfortunately, we all go through grief in our lives,” she said. “And all you have are those memories.”
Beatriz added, “Coming to people in your life with the truest, most honest self as much as you can at all times is going to feed the memories when you lose them.
And hopefully feed their memories when someday they might lose you.”

The reflections come as the second season of Twisted Metal premiered on Peacock on 31 July.
The post-apocalyptic series, adapted from the popular PlayStation game, stars both Mackie and Beatriz and has gained attention internationally.
