Orlando Pirates have confirmed that Relebohile Mofokeng is on his way to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that the transfer fee is slightly above €3 million, around R56 million.

The deal will see Mofokeng sign a reported four-year contract with the Belgian Pro League side. The 21-year-old from Sharpeville, Gauteng is expected in Belgium to complete his medical and finalise personal terms.

Tavolieri revealed the details on social media, saying: “Mofokeng will be today in Belgium. Slightly higher than a €3M deal. (R56 million). Well & truly a 4 years contract.”

ORLANDO PIRATES CONFIRM THE EUROPEAN MOVE

Earlier on Wednesday, the Betway Premiership giants confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of Mofokeng.

The club stated: “Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of Relebohile Mofokeng.”

“While the two clubs have concluded negotiations over the transfer fee and structure of the deal, Orlando Pirates can confirm that the move remains subject to Mofokeng passing a medical examination and finalising personal terms with the Belgian Pro League side.”

The Buccaneers also revealed that the agreement was actually reached before the start of the FIFA World Cup. Both clubs decided to delay the announcement.

“The Club can also reveal that an agreement in principle between Orlando Pirates and Union Saint-Gilloise was in fact reached before the start of the FIFA World Cup. Both parties made the joint decision to hold off on any public announcement until after the tournament, wanting Mofokeng to focus fully on the World Cup with Bafana Bafana without the distraction of transfer talk, and to allow the national team’s historic run to take centre stage.”
