e.tv’s new telenovela The Four of Us officially made its debut on Monday night, 29 June 2026, and viewers wasted no time sharing their reactions on social media.

The family drama, which forms part of the broadcaster’s new Golden Hour lineup, has already generated considerable buzz, with audiences praising its powerhouse cast, compelling storytelling, and emotional depth.

A story of family, power and long-held resentment

Produced by Tshedza Pictures, The Four of Us centres on the influential Dhlomo family, where old wounds, power struggles, and unresolved resentments threaten to tear the family apart. At the heart of the story are four siblings navigating questions of legacy, identity, ambition, and belonging.

According to TVSA, the story follows Busani Dhlomo, the fiercely principled eldest sibling who has spent years carrying the burden of preserving her family’s legacy. However, her authority is challenged by her ambitious brother Bobbi, who believes he deserves to lead the family.

Meanwhile, an overlooked middle sibling, Banzi, struggles to find his place, while the youngest sibling grapples with grief, freedom, and self-discovery.

Star-studded cast draws praise

The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast led by Sindi Dlathu as Busani Dhlomo and Sdumo Mtshali as Bobbi Dhlomo. They are joined by Thembinkosi Mthembu as Banzi Dhlomo and Kealeboga Masango as the youngest Dhlomo sibling.

The wider cast includes Sibongile Nojila as matriarch Masechaba ‘Gogozi’ Dhlomo, Rami Chuene as Vera, Dumisani Dlamini as Papi, and Hope Mbhele as Ndumi Nhlapho. Other cast members include Seipati Mahamu, Lebohang Lephatsoane, Nombulelo Letsosa, Pascaline Phale, Nthabiseng Kgosana, Scelo Buthelezi, Quinton Madlala and Tebogo Malapane.

Viewers share their first impressions of The Four of Us

Following the premiere, social media platforms were flooded with reactions from viewers, many of whom praised the show’s production quality and performances.

Several viewers described the first episode as “captivating” and “refreshing,” while others singled out the performances of Sindi and Thembinkosi. Many fans also applauded the chemistry among the cast and the emotional weight of the family’s storyline.

Some viewers noted that the series appears poised to become one of the year’s biggest local dramas if it maintains the momentum established in its debut episode.

Not everyone is convinced yet

As with any new television production, not all reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Some viewers felt the premiere episode introduced too many storylines at once, while others said they hoped subsequent episodes would provide more clarity about the characters’ motivations and relationships.

Still, many agreed that The Four of Us has laid a strong foundation and deserves time to develop.

Eish the color palette on #The4OfUs is a tad jarring.

The brown is too pronounced. The serpia washes out lines especially on frames where black is also prominent.

Ke lefifi. Takes away the details.
