Cape Town City have extended the contract of one of their development player, Jaiden Rhodes, who has renewed until 2024.

Rhodes was promoted from City’s reserve team late last season after an impressive campaign in the DStv Diski Challenge team. The 19-year-old made his senior debut when City faced Kaizer Chiefs at FNB stadium.

After playing seven games last season for the Citizens, Rhodes will be looking for more game time this campaign under Eric Tinkler..

The Cape Town-based side opened their 2022/23 season against the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday evening, losing 2-0.

City will also be contesting in the CAF Champions League this season for the first time but for coach Tinkler, it won’t be the first time on the continent, having reached CAF Confederation Cup finals with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, and also the CAFCL final with Pirates as assistant to Roger De Sa.

In the latest edition of iDiski Times you can also hear from new Kaizer Chiefs signings Ashley Du Preez, Zitha Kwinika and Dillan Solomons. We also hear from the new bosses from the Soweto giants, with Arthur Zwane outlaying his ambition for Kaizer Chiefs, and Jose Riveiro for Orlando Pirates. There is also reaction from Magaia, Kgoale and Majiya after Banyana’s historic WAFCON triumph, and reaction to Benni McCarthy’s appointment at Manchester United, plus much more.
