A press briefing hosted by March and March took a dramatic turn after a tense exchange between a journalist and the movement’s leaders escalated into a standoff.

The confrontation unfolded when a reporter accused March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese Zuma of inciting violence, alleging that she had previously stated that illegal migrants should “perish.”

March and March panel demands evidence

The accusation was met with fierce resistance from the panel, which immediately challenged the journalist to provide proof of the alleged remarks.

As tensions rose, members of the panel repeatedly demanded evidence to substantiate the claim. According to footage circulating online, the journalist was unable to produce any proof during the heated exchange.

The situation quickly deteriorated, with voices raised as both sides defended their positions.

Journalist escorted out

With the confrontation intensifying, the journalist was swiftly removed from the briefing, bringing an abrupt end to the exchange.

At one point during the altercation, members of the movement also questioned the journalist’s nationality, with some suggesting that he was not South African.

Video sparks debate online

Clips of the incident have since made the rounds on social media, where South Africans have shared mixed reactions.

While some users defended the movement’s leaders, arguing that accusations of incitement should be backed by evidence, others raised concerns about the treatment of journalists and the importance of allowing members of the media to ask difficult questions.

The incident has reignited discussions about the relationship between political figures and the media, as well as the role of accountability and freedom of the press in democratic spaces.

At the time of publication, neither the journalist involved nor March and March had issued a formal statement regarding the altercation.

Kanti why can’t he show the video if he is not one of those leeches who churn out blobs and blobs of misinformation trying to lynch our Jacinta and our revolutionary March & March?
