Three Kaizer Chiefs transfer targets

Kaizer Chiefs have only announced the signing of defender Thabo Moloisane so far, but the club will need more reinforcements if they are to challenge for major honours next season.

Having sold Aden McCarthy, Amakhosi moved swiftly to secure Moloisane’s services earlier this month.

The 27-year-old joined as a free agent after parting ways with Stellenbosch FC and is expected to strengthen the club’s defensive options.

With pre-season preparations set to begin next week, Chiefs could also confirm several departures. Players such as George Matlou, Gaston Sirino, Happy Mashiane and Ashley Du Preez are all reportedly facing uncertain futures at Naturena.

If Amakhosi are serious about building a squad capable of competing at the highest level, here are three players Kaizer Chiefs should consider signing during the transfer window.

Junior Dion

Chiefs’ biggest priority should be finding a reliable goalscorer to support Flávio Silva in attack.

The lack of a clinical finisher has often undermined the creativity of youngsters such as Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi, who regularly create opportunities but have not always had a striker capable of converting them consistently.

Golden Arrows forward Junior Dion could be the ideal solution. The striker enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 14 league goals and establishing himself as one of the most lethal finishers in the PSL.

His movement, composure in front of goal and ability to score different types of goals would make him a valuable addition to the Kaizer Chiefs frontline.

Tshegofatso Mabasa

Another player worth considering is Tshegofatso Mabasa. The experienced striker is reportedly available as a free agent and would bring proven PSL pedigree to the squad.

Mabasa has demonstrated his goalscoring qualities throughout his career and could provide the cutting edge Chiefs have lacked in recent seasons.

His experience and ability to perform under pressure would also ease the burden on the club’s younger attacking players.

Kaizer Chiefs might need creativity

Kabelo Dlamini

Kaizer Chiefs could also look to strengthen their midfield by pursuing Kabelo Dlamini.

The talented playmaker has struggled for regular game time and may be open to a move in search of a bigger role. Dlamini possesses excellent technical ability, creativity and set-piece quality, attributes that could add another dimension to Fernando Da Cruz’s side.

At 29, he is entering his prime years and could provide the experience and quality needed to help the Glamour Boys bridge the gap to the league’s top teams.

While the signing of Thabo Moloisane addresses a defensive need, Kaizer Chiefs still require additions in attack and midfield.

Junior Dion, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Kabelo Dlamini are all players who could improve the squad immediately and help Amakhosi become genuine contenders in the upcoming season.
