Stellies Give Striker Another Chance

When Stellenbosch unveiled their new kit for the 2022/2023 DStv Premiership season on Tuesday, they also confirmed the signing of a footballer from the amateur ranks.

But while Glen Hahn has spent the past few seasons playing in the ABC Motsepe and SAB leagues, this is not the 25-year-old’s first experience in professional football.

Six years ago he made his pro debut for the now defunct FC Cape Town in the National First Division, featuring nine times in the 2016/2017 season.

Hahn, one of the standout players at the 2014 Bayhill Tournament, while featuring for Belstar, is no stranger to Cape football.

The attacking midfielder-come-striker has featured for teams like Glendene United (before and after his FC Cape Town stint) in the ABC Motsepe leagues, but most recently was with the Maties FC side who won promotion to the ABC last year.

Having trained with Steve Barker’s side since the start of preseason, Hahn has been rewarded with another opportunity in the professional game, and this time will have a chance to shine in the top tier for the first time.

Hahn was unveiled at the club as they revealed their new kit for the season, ahead of their opening league this weekend, away to Marumo Gallants.
