Sports presenter and producer, Minnie Dlamini, got emotional during her special encounter with the legendary talk show host, Felicia Mabuza-Suttle.

In America, there is Oprah Winfrey, while in South Africa, we have the incomparable Felicia Mabuza-Suttle. She is truly entertainment royalty, having established herself as a brilliant talk show host in the 90’s.

The Soweto-born icon is regarded as an inspiration for many, especially since she was among the few black TV hosts in her era.

MINNIE DLAMINI GETS EMOTIONAL UPON MEETING FELICIA MABUZA

On 20 June, Felicia Mabuza posted a video of herself and Minnie in what seemed like a reception area, savouring a special moment.

Dressed in a green Bafana Bafana t-shirt, Minnie told Felicia how much of an impact she had on her dream to become a television presenter someday.

“I love you so much. I am because you are. I wanted to be a TV presenter because you did it. You walked so that we could run. I am so grateful for you. I don’t have the words. You are everything. You are the blueprint. We are so grateful for you,” said the emotional Minnie.

THANDO THABETHE MEETS FELICIA MABUZA

Another local celebrity who enjoyed the honour of meeting Felicia was award-winning actress and entrepreneur, Thando Thabethe.

On 16 June 2026, she interviewed Felicia on her Drive with Thando radio show, and the episode will air soon on the station’s YouTube channel.

Thando penned the following tribute to Felicia on Instagram:

“Show me a better way to spend Youth Day than with a trailblazing hero who broke down all walls, created spaces that didn’t exist and allowed for uncomfortable conversations in post-apartheid South Africa, other than the incomparable @feliciamabuzasuttle,” she wrote.

“She walked so we could run, the first black South African woman I ever saw on TV, a woman who showed me what was possible,” she added.
