Controversial prophet Shepherd Bushiri claimed he had prepared at least 10 buses to assist in the repatriation of fellow Malawians. This comes after several Malawian nationals gathered at Sherwood Park in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, in recent weeks while seeking assistance to travel back to Malawi.

Bushiri headed to his Facebook account on the evening of Tuesday, 16 June 2026, to share his hope of helping the Malawians, and added:

“Let’s stand together and help our people!”

He also shared a screenshot of his mission on X.

According to eNCA, 755 Malawian nationals were transported home on buses provided by the Malawian government on 14 and 15 June 2026. The departures form part of a broader repatriation programme aimed at helping citizens who wish to leave South Africa and return home.

South Africans react to Shepherd Bushiri’s post

Several social media users, including South Africans, took to the comment section to question Bushiri’s finances after he offered to assist.

The Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church leader and his wife, Mary Bushiri, left South Africa for Malawi in 2020 while out on bail on charges that include fraud and money laundering.

@The2Prophets wondered, “Don’t you have a pending arrest warrant in South Africa?”

@khayare wrote under the post, “At last, you are using money for something to help.”

“How come you never had a prophecy about this situation?” @Phumeza80823957 humorously asked.

AN upset @M23Rebel remarked, “You have the audacity to even talk about buses while you disappeared overnight and ran away from your crimes.”
