Woolworths Ends WRewards Cards in June

Posted on June 15, 2026

Woolworths customers are being warned about a major loyalty change.

The retailer has confirmed that WRewards and MySchool cards will stop working from 30 June 2026.

This marks the end of Woolworths’ original rewards programme, which has been running for around 15 years.

The WRewards programme first launched in 2010 and was later updated over the years, including a relaunch in 2015.

Now, Woolworths is moving customers fully onto its newer MyDifference loyalty programme.

What Changes From 30 June?

From the end of June 2026, WRewards and MySchool cards will no longer work.

This also affects Discovery Vitality members.

According to the source article, Vitality will no longer receive the data it needs to reward customers if they continue using the old cards.

Woolworths says customers who complete the MyDifference sign-up process will remain linked and will continue earning HealthyFood Vitality rewards.

The MyDifference programme launched in June 2025 and has now replaced the older loyalty system.

How MyDifference Works

MyDifference offers customers instant rewards and vouchers.

Customers can use either a physical MyDifference card or a virtual card through the Woolworths app.

Physical cards can be collected in-store.

The virtual card is available through the Woolies App.

Woolworths has stressed that customers need to download the app and register for MyDifference to unlock all benefits.

Customers using only a physical card will still get instant savings on selected items in-store, online and on the app.

But they will miss out on personalised rewards and app-only offers.

Reward Levels Depend on Spending

MyDifference has reward levels based on annual spending at Woolworths and its store brands.

The levels are calculated through swiping or scanning a linked MyDifference card.

Customers can fall into three levels.

The Loyal level applies to spending under R12,000 a year.

Ambassador covers annual spending from R12,000 to R35,999.

VIP applies to customers who spend more than R36,000 a year.

Benefits include vouchers, instant savings, access to games, early online promo access and shopping goals, depending on the customer’s level.

For Woolworths shoppers, the message is simple: the old cards are out and MyDifference is now the main way to earn rewards.
