Strand Father Banned From School After Court Order

A Strand father has been barred from Hendrik Louw Primary School after the Western Cape High Court granted an interdict linked to alleged bullying and intimidation of staff.

According to Cape Argus, the father of a five-year-old learner may not enter the school or come within 100 metres of it. The court also ordered him not to threaten, harass or communicate with school staff in any form.

Court bars father from Hendrik Louw Primary

The Strand father banned from school cannot be named because doing so could identify his child. Cape Argus reported that the matter involved Hendrik Louw Primary School in Strand, where the child is enrolled.

The dispute reportedly began at the end of January 2026. It centred on the care of the child, who has type 1 diabetes and needs constant oversight, including remedial care at times from the school.

Judge Derek Wille said the father adopted a “regrettable stance” in his interactions with staff over what he believed was proper care for his son. According to reports, the conduct included alleged intimidation of the principal, threats of violence, threats to close the school, and intimidation of the school governing body and aftercare staff.

The court heard that the father described himself as an “overbearing person”. School staff argued that he had made serious threats, harassed applicants and tried to pressure them.

Diabetes care dispute led to legal action

The Cape Argus report said the father told the court he had consulted at least five advocates about his rights regarding the care of his minor son. Judge Wille also noted concern over the father’s statement that his “business partner” was a High Court judge helping him with litigation.

When questioned, the father changed that version and said he meant the person was a magistrate, not a judge. The court found that he had offered complaints in his answering affidavit, but no real legal defence to the allegations.

Hendrik Louw Primary School says on its official website that it is based in Strand and has operated since 1880. The school describes its vision as “Always our best for every child”.

School and legal team decline comment

Cape Argus reported that Hendrik Louw Primary School and its legal counsel declined to comment when approached.

The publication also reported that the alleged conduct caused severe stress and disruption to the principal and to a teacher who suffers from severe anxiety. The interdict now prevents the father from approaching the school or communicating with staff.

The Strand father banned from school remains subject to the court order unless it is changed by a court. No separate public judgment or additional official statement was found at the time of publication.
