Letoya Makhene & Zahara’s PA Friendship Strain

The friendship between television actress Letoya Makhene and late singer Zahara’s personal assistant, Lisa Gwengxeka, has ended on a sour note, with the latter moving out of the apartment they once shared.

So serious is the fallout that Lisa has blue-ticked Letoya’s request to find her a domestic worker and stated that she wants nothing more to do with the “f&*ken” friendship.

The breakdown of the relationship between Letoya and Lisa was revealed by two deep throats who are intimately close to the two women.

Speaking to Africa Daily, the first source, who did not want to be named for fear of victimisation, said the former Generations actress and her children were staying with Lisa in a posh rented apartment in a ritzy complex in Roodepoort, west of Joburg, from last year.

This was after Letoya vacated her grandmother’s home in Tladi, Soweto, following a widely reported domestic violence incident with her uncle, singer and songwriter Papa Makhene, about a year ago.

The tipster alleged that while they were living together, Lisa was buying groceries and also assisting Letoya with rental payments. Lisa also allegedly used her contacts in the entertainment industry to secure Letoya a reality TV show titled The Makhenes, which aired on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161). The mole alleged that Lisa complained that although she helped the velvet-voiced singer secure the deal, she she felt unappreciated.

“ She told me that Letoya got paid at least R250 000 for the show, but she did not thank her for helping her secure the deal. I don’t know if she was telling me the truth or if she was just exaggerating, but that’s what Lisa told me,” alleged the informant.

The source alleged that, as a result of this, Lisa was gatvol and requested her to help her find cheap accommodation away from the complex.

She alleged that she assisted Lisa in securing the accommodation.

Lisa vacated the apartment and went to stay elsewhere in Joburg .

The person’s allegations were echoed by another reliable source who is privy to Letoya and Lisa’s personal lives.

“ I spoke to Lisa early in March and she confirmed that she had moved out of the apartment and wants nothing to do with Letoya.”

The reliable source also showed us a series of WhatsApp conversations between them and Lisa.

In the text messages, Lisa alleged that Letoya needs help as she was veering off the rails.

“I am not, to be honest. At this point, I do not care. I just hope she changes indlela zakhe. With that said, she needs to get help.

I am really trying to focus on myself. Ask her man when you meet with him; ask him about me, he will tell you.

Mna, I am just protecting my work. You know I could lose my licence, and I wouldn’t want that because my job is the only thing I have.

Mkhulu will expose her and leave no crumbs,” reads the message she sent to the reliable source.

Lisa also expressed her disappointment with how Letoya treated her after she vacated the apartment.

She alleged that she phoned Letoya after a viral video of her and her uncle’s bust-up to console her. But voila, she said, Letoya ignored her phone calls.

“ I did not even respond when she told me she was looking for a helper. Where must I get the helper from, mna? I realised here that uLetoya akabazi abantu besides using them, for real. Like in our last conversation, I was a concerned friend who was supposed to go and see her for support after that video. As you can see, I called her later on that day with no response. Without even asking me what happened, since I said I was going to see her, she just did not bother. She is asking me for u-auntie. Is that how you treat people?” reads the message.

Lisa said, as a result of Letoya’s alleged behaviour, she wants nothing to do with her.

“ I’m so over this f%$ken friendship, shame. I’m just focusing on myself ngoku,” reads the message.

Lisa feigned ignorance when Africa Daily contacted her for comment.

“ I do not have any fallout. Letoya is my friend and remains my friend, and there is no story there!,” she replied in a text message.

Letoya could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
