Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has opened up on talks between his club and former Kaizer Chiefs player Lebogang Manyama.
Manyama, 31, was one of several Chiefs players who were released by the Soweto giants last month.
After undergoing surgery, Manyama is looking to recover as soon as possible and get back on the pitch but City’s decision may depend on his fitness, as reported in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper.
City would likely want him available for the CAF Champions League that is set to start in September and there have been rumours that the two parties have been in talks.
Comitis remained coy when asked about the rumours of a Manyama-return, but did confirm they two parties are in talks.
“Lebo Manyama just went through a rehab process,” he said on Sports Night Amplified on MetroFM.
“As you saw he was left out of a few games at the end at Chiefs, and I think he’s attended to his rehab.
“We certainly have been in communication with Lebo to see what his progress is.
“When you want to win things, you have to bring in winners and he’s definitely one of them and we’ll carry on talking to him and hope he recovers.”
If the deal does happen, it won’t be the first time Manyama wears the City shirt, as he did so before heading to Turkey in 2017.
The Citizens have been quiet in the transfer window with them only bringing in former Stellenbosch defender Marc Van Heerden, and former Orlando City midfielder, American/South African Jordan Bender.
