Dylan Kerr has confirmed to iDiski Times that Swallows have released the trio of Lebohang Mokoena, Joseph Mhlongo, and Thandani Ntshumayelo.
Mokoena captained the Soweto giants when they won promotion from the second division two seasons ago and kept his place in the team when they finished sixth in the league and qualified for MTN8 in 2020/21.
Mhlongo was never a starter at Swallows FC, but he was known for being a super-sub who would add a few late goals for the side, especially in their first season returning to the top flight.
Meanwhile, Ntshumayelo was given a lifeline opportunity after he was suspended from football for quite some and the ‘Dube Birds’ offered him an opportunity to revive his career but things couldn’t get together, as they were fighting relegation in the last campaign.
Talking with iDiskiTimes journalist Sinethemba Makonco, Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr confirmed that Mokoena, Ntshumayelo, and Mhlongo have been released by the club. He went on to mention that it wasn’t an easy decision to make but they’ve got youngsters that need to be given an opportunity.

“In football you’ve got to make decisions, not personal decisions, you’ve got to make football decisions,” Kerr stated.
“Things are changing in football you have to keep your jersey by putting to performance. And I’ve said that to every player.
“I love Cheeseboy, [but] unfortunately we had to let him go. We’ve got younger players that need to be promoted from the MDC [team]. It was a tough decision for me to make.
“Same with ‘Bibo’. I love him a lot but as I said we’ve got to build a team with lot of younger players. It is the same with Joseph Mhlongo.
“We want to build a team that can fight, not fight for relegation but fight for honours as well.”
