New Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi has revealed what teammate Paseka Mako told him during their first training session.
The Bafana Bafana defender, who joined the Buccaneers from Golden Arrows, has had his first interview with the club.
Among the topics discussed, he spoke about familiar faces easing his arrival at Orlando Stadium, saying Mako had a special welcome message for him.
“It sure has made things a lot easier, and everyone in the group has been welcoming,” he told the club’s media department.
“I can even recall my first time coming to a training session and Paseka Mako actually came to me and said ‘UNkululnkulu mkhulu (God is great). I’ve wanted you on our side for a long time’.
“The energy I’ve gotten from all of the guys has been quite welcoming.”

Sibisi also admitted the competition for places will be tough but it makes the team overall better.
“Yeah, there’s competition but I think competition is healthy. It brings out the best in everyone,” he added.
“Regardless of who is playing in that particular position, there’s always someone pushing the next person.”
Sibisi, 26, joined Pirates from Golden Arrows after playing for seven years Abafana Bes’thende. He has represented South Africa three times so far.
